The Australian Open has grown into a notable bowling event since coming to the Gold Coast in 2015. The sporting event will be in 14 separate Gold Coast host clubs over 14 days. This tournament attracts approximately 2,000 bowlers from all around Australia and the world and is open to any registered bowler.
Yes, the tournament is an open-entries event with no qualification requirements. In the beginning, each discipline has sectional rounds, with qualifiers going to knockouts. There are no seedings in either sectional or knockout play. Therefore it’s a completely random draw.
Did you know that the Australian Open is also the richest bowls event in addition to being the world’s largest bowls festival? The Australian Open also offers a total prize pool of nearly AUD255,000 over 13 disciplines. Additional live events include “Mega Bowl” events during the Australian Open.
