On the Gold Coast, the thrills never cease. Even though the year has only just begun, the city is already dazzling and bustling with exciting events like concerts and carnivals. The following three events are coming to Gold Coast this January and February.
Sea World Carnivale
The annual Sea World Carnivale comes first on the list. The annual event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on January 28, February 4, 11, 18, 24, and 25. Discover the immersive areas of Sea World Carnivale to sample international cuisine and take in the cultures of Mexico, Rio, New Orleans and Africa.
- Mexico: Prepare for a vibrant and energetic Mexican celebration. Day of the Dead or Dia de Los Muertos will have you celebrating life! Want to upgrade your evening? The kids would adore decorating candy skull cookies. Create a masterpiece to take home!
- Rio: As Rio comes to life with sparkling costumes, towering headgear, and rhythmic samba sounds, feel the heat and rhythm of the city. Enjoy a variety of light bites while sipping on zingy cocktails and cold beers.
- New Orleans: The tiny corner of Louisiana transports you to the brightly lit, party-filled streets of Mardi Gras with jazz dancing, brassy sounds, and southern flavours.
- Africa: Welcome to Africa! Live music, hawker fare, and sweltering heat! Enjoy hearty chef-crafted meals, watch energising dance and fire-twirling performances, and sip zingy cocktails from Mr Consistent, a crowd favourite.
You can view the Affinity Dolphin Presentation by Night in addition to these precincts. Take advantage of the famed Aqua Light Show, which is back and better than ever. Start the evening with a spectacular light and music show that will enthral you. Take in the dynamic aquatic performance set against the Sea World Lake sky, a show-stopper sure to impress from a viewing area larger than ever!
Check out The Atlantis and its rides, the newest addition to the Gold Coast theme park. One of the awesome rides in the precinct is the mighty Leviathan. The Trident, the most recent and tallest structure at Sea World, is a thrilling ride. Experience the enormous currents of the Vortex as well.
With bright live music, reminisce and reconnect in the new year! More of Australia’s favourite musicians will perform at the ideal music festival, SummerSalt. Enjoy the performances of Angus & Julia Stone, an Australian folk and indie pop band. The illustrious Rick Rubin famously brought the two back together. A Book Like This, Down the Way, Angus & Julia Stone, Snow, and Life Is Strange are just a few of the studio albums that Angus and Julia Stone, a brother and sister, have put out.
Catch the five-piece alternative rock group The Rubens, which hail from Menangle, New South Wales. Zaac, Sam, Elliott Margin, and friends Scott Baldwin and William Zeglis make up the band. Their 2012 self-titled debut album, an ARIA Certified Platinum in Australia, was an enormous success.
Middle Kids is another band worth seeing. They create and perform complex, emotionally raw, and critically acclaimed indie rock music. In 2018, they released their acclaimed debut album, “Lost Friends,” riding the success of their first single, “Edge of Town,” which received much attention. With this album, they won Triple J’s Best Australian Album award, received numerous ARIA nominations, and began an endless multiyear tour of the United States, Europe, and Australia.
Catch them and more at SummerSalt on February 12 at Broadwater Parklands.
Harry Styles: Love On Tour
Harry Styles, an English singer-songwriter and actor, is performing on the Gold Coast. As a solo contestant on The X Factor, he launched his musical career in 2010. 2017 saw the release of Styles’ self-titled debut solo album via Columbia Records. Since then, Styles has won numerous awards and accolades, including three American Music Awards, a Grammy, two Brit Awards, and two Ivor Novello Awards.
